It has been raining nonstop in many parts of the Philippines since last week. Typhoons Ineng and Juaning have come and gone and we’re still dealing with Typhoon Kabayan. Now, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reports that Typhoon Lando might make it’s touch down at Dau, Pangasinan this evening. This is according to the news report I watched last night in the kapamilya network. (Right to Plug: Check out my post about 2011 Philippine Storm Names)
Frankly, I like the weather we’ve been having here in San Pedro, Laguna. The rains have made it unusually cool and I can actually turn off the fan when I sleep early in the morning. But after a week of rains, I find myself asking for a respite. My laundry basket is filled to twice its capacity and I need to finish them this week. True, I can use a clothes dryer but I prefer to dry my clothes under the sun. It’s my way of helping save Mother Earth. Plus, I don’t like the way clothes smell when dried in a rainy weather.
Lando’s Back!
Scouring the net for news about Typhoon Lando, I pulled up results about Typhoon Lando 2007. Wait… don’t be confused. What I am trying to say is that we already had a typhoon called Lando in November 2007. That one was pretty brute because it left more then P65.3 million worth of damages. I am hoping that Typhoon Lando 2011 won’t be as hard on us as its predecessor.

Friendly reminder
At this rate, it seems that PAGASA will use up all the storm names it has prepared for 2011. In 2007, Typhoon Lando made landfall in November. It’s still August and now we have its namesake threatening to enter the country. It is in everyone’s best interest to prepare for the storm. If you have to buy supplies using your credit car or even take some cash advance to storm-proof your home, do it. Remember, an ounce of prevention is still better than the cure.
