If there is one thing that will unite people from different media, it’s food. Bounty Fresh used this knowledge to their advantage by plying members of the media and top bloggers to good humor with delicious chicken dishes and free-flowing beverages during it’s First Online Product Launch and Media Party, held at the classy Chef’s Table Restaurant in The Fort last October 14.
Not only was the event filling, it was also full of fun. Host Meg Entrata cajoled the audience to joining the Chicken Charade to break the ice. There was also another fun media challenge in between presentations called Chicken Memory. One of the bloggers who participated in this challenge and won a prize is food blogger Jonel Uy.
The Family That Does Business Together, Grows Together
Did you know that Bounty Fresh Foods had its origins in a steel company? This was revealed by Patricia Cheng, Bounty Fresh Brand Marketing Group Head when she discussed the humble beginnings of this food company. As a member of the family who owns Bounty Fresh, it was really amusing to hear her stories of visiting her family’s chicken farm in Bulacan during the early years of Bounty Fresh in the late 1990s. Her presentation made me realize that the most successful companies in the Philippines are owned by families who worked together to build a brand from the ground up.
Since it’s establishment in 1996, Bounty Fresh Foods has steadily penetrated not only the Philippine market, but also the Asian market. In 2009, the company was awarded the Asian Livestock Industry Award, making the Bounty Fresh Chicken the best chicken in the Asian continent. This year, Tennyson G. Chen, the driving force behind the Bounty Fresh brand, received the Philippine Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He will be representing the Philippines in the 2010 World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards to be held in Monte Carlo, Monaco in June 2011.
The Bountiful Brand
Aside from it’s dressed chicken, Bounty Fresh is fast becoming a favorite among Filipino shoppers with its value-added chicken products. In her presentation, Kathy Gomez, Bounty Fresh Assistant Brand Manager for Processed Meat & Fresh enumerated the different products of Bounty Fresh, some of which were served during the event while the presentations were going on. These include Chicken Tocino, Chicken Pandan, Buffalo Wings, and Chicken Strips. My favorite is the Chicken Tocino. It’s sweet flavor is perfect for me and my daughter.
Why Should We Eat Chicken? Let me count the ways…
Or let Joan Sumpio, a renowned & respected nutritionist, count the ways. Her presentation on the nurtritional benefits of eating chicken enlightened the members of the quad media about the health benefits of eating FRESH chicken. Note that I put the emphasis on FRESH. This is because eating otherwise will not bring you the same nutrients as eating a vacuum-sealed Bounty Fresh chicken. Worse, you might even get sick from eating improperly stored and sealed dressed chicken.
So, what are the contributions of eating fresh chicken to our health? Here they are:
- The protein in chicken supports body growth, development and body repair.
- The vitamin B3 and phosphorus in chicken makes our body produce energy.
- Selenium in chicken protects body cells from damage and boosts the immune system.
- Nutrients found in chicken are vital to bone and teeth development.
- Chicken contains vitamin B6 that assists in normal formation and transport of blood within body.
Cooking with Chef Bruce Lim: The Bounty Fresh
I have mentioned above that I have very limited cooking skills. That’s why the cooking demonstration of Chef Bruce Lim was the highlight of the event for me. He showed us how to prepare lemon grass chicken and spicy buffalo wings using Bounty Fresh products.
Lim, who hosts the lifestyle TV show Tablescapes with Angel Aquino, revealed that he personally uses Bounty Fresh products. He says that the brand’s fresh chicken products stays fresh and flavorful even if he has it frozen in the freezer for five days, thanks to the vacuum packaging of the product.
For the culinary-challenged people like me, Bounty Fresh’ value added products would be really help in making sure that my family eats fresh, nutritious chicken. As it is, my daughter loves their Chicken Tocino. She also loves the roasted liempo from Chooks to Go.
A Bountiful End
The event ended with a raffle and freebies for the members of the quad media. But more than that, I went away with new knowledge and new friends.
So, are you using Bounty Fresh chicken? This is the main thesis of a very informal survey that I conducted among my friends. Twenty people participated in this survey, 17 of which are aware of Bounty Fresh chicken. Out of this 17, 13 people include Bounty Fresh chicken products in their shopping cart. These are:
- Fresh Chicken
- Fresh Chicke Cut Ups
- Buffalo Wings
- Chicken Pandan
- Chicken Strips
I also asked if they ever bought chicken from Chooks to Go and thirteen of them said yes. Here’s a screenshot of this informal survey.
Next time you go shopping, I string suggest you put a Bounty Fresh chicken product in your cart. Make it a regular item in your grocery list as I do.
