One of my friends, Michelle,  know my current health predicament:  I am having  a hard time following my less-rice diet especially since I’ve been going on a lot of food trips with my Ulayaw friends. Just last week we’ve visited Banchetto-Emerald and Mang Jimmy’s in UP Diliman.  It was an effort, really, to lay off the rice and just eat meat.

So we’ve discussed ways for me to really lose weight, especially in the middle area. So far, we have shun the idea of me taking diet pills because I have weird allergies. I can’t do any exercise of the moment because I have sprained my left ankle after the iBlog summit.  So there’s really nothing I can do for the meantime but watch what I eat and drink. So here’s what I have been doing:

1.  Use brown sugar instead of brown sugar in coffee. Also, reduce sugar to a teaspoonful.

2. Less rice. Since I cannot bear to totally forego rice, I have limited it to half a cup.

3. Water, water, water.  I don’t drink water much, usually less than 8 glasses a day, but now I make it a point to drink 8 glasses of water a day.

4. Lay off the softdrinks.  There used to be a time that I drink  Pop Cola everyday. Now, I only drink soft drinks when I am out.

5. No junk foods. I love Tortillos, Patata, Clover, and Oishi and I used to eat at least two a day. Now, I limit it to two a week. That’s really difficult!

I am thinking of at least devoting a day into a cleansing diet. By cleansing diet, I mean that I would only eat fresh fruits for a day and drink water.  Supposedly, this diet would help the body get rid of toxins.  According to my dad’s friend, who underwent a bypass surgery three years ago, this kind of diet is the best colon cleanser around because it will help you move your bowels regularly.
