*** Live Blogging: May 1, 2o1o

Finally, after weeks of laughing at some hopeful talents audition, the big battle finally commenced. The semi finals of ABS-CBN’s Pilipinas Got Talent has began! The show is being aired live in AFP Theater with hosts Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford looking dashing in their suits. Kris Aquino paid lip service to the taxi driver from Bulacan who drove her to the theater.  Here are the descriptions of the performances and my take on them.

SNAPBOIZ — This group danced to We Will Rock You. The star of their Group is Michael, whose dad recently passed away. He made stunts while his hands were cuffed and these impressed the judges. FMG called them awesome. Kris Aquino apologized for calling them “madungis” before.

ROLANDO PERMANGIL – He gave a very dramatic and emotional rendition of Kahit Isang Saglit. The song was beautiful enough on its own without the drama he showed. He thanked PGT for allowing him to bring his three children and also the judges for choosing him as a semi finalist.  Kris Aquino cried because his performance reminded her of her mom, the late president Cory Aquino. AiAi de las Alas made fun of his barong. FMG thought he performed well.

BAGIO SIBLINGS – This dancing duo sure have fighting spirit. But their performance showed the nervousness that they both felt, which is really disappointing. I noticed some awkward moments, especially during some key moments of their dance. FMG wasn’t impressed by their performance and do am I. For the record, the cameras was moving too much, it was dizzying.

VOTING CODE: PGT BAGUIO

RUTHER – This ventroliquist entertained the judges and the crowd, especially when one of the two puppets quoted Ai Ai de las Alas famous’ “Binuhay mo ang katawang lupa ko” line. Let’s expect more form this guy since he has 5 more puppets to show us. Kris Aquino fell in love with the Lolo puppet and that she promised to send him a Union washing machine the next day. She also complimented Ruther for using traditional Filipino values in his skit.

XAVIER UNIVERSITY CULTURAL DANCE GROUP – As FMG said, this dance troupe was a visual delight. Unfortunately, they one of their members fell during a stunt, which marred the exquisiteness of their performance.  Personally, I don’t think they will win. There is just too much going on that you can’t really see the talent

JOVIT BALDIVINO – This 16-year old from Batangas wowed more than 3 million viewers and YouTube with his audition. I am sure that any video recording of his rendition of Carrie will receive more than 3 million hits. The crowd was going gaga over this lad and so were the judges. Kris Aquino called him the Male Version of Charice Pempengco, while FMG said “You continue to amaze me.” Oh, before I forgot, he made PGT history when he received the first standing ovation of the show.
