The local beauty and wellness industry has boomed in the last few years. As a result, we’ve seen day spas opening left and right especially in the metro. While I do like to try massages in these little day spas, I’m less likely to try their facial services. I just don’t know if their aestheticians are properly trained and whether they’re using quality skin care products. Thus, I opt for well-established skin clinics when getting a facial.

However, I recently discovered that I can get my massage, facial and other wellness treatments all in one place at very affordable prices. That’s in Perps Med Spa at the University of Perpetual Help Dalta Medical Center in Las Pinas City.

Getting There

If you are familiar with the University of Perpetual Help Hospital then you won’t have a hard time finding the Med Spa which is at The Wellness Complex of the hospital. If you are coming from Alabang, you can ride one of the jeepneys going to Zapote. The fare is Php 15 from Alabang to the hospital. I suggest that you make you visit the spa on a holiday or Sunday when traffic is light. Otherwise, you will find yourself stuck in traffic for hours and you’ll be in a bad mood when you get to the spa.

Services

Perps Med Spa offers a variety of services including massage, skin care, and ultrasound cavitation treatments for the body. When I went there last May 12,  I had the privilege of trying all these services in just one afternoon. Their 1-hour body massage is performed in single -occupancy rooms unless you specifically requested to have it in the couple’s room. You’ll have the option to shower in your room before your massage — a value-added service that is not always offered in small day spas.

I followed the massage with a facial. It was very reassuring to know that a registered nurse-turned-aesthetician will be giving me this treatment. Hazel, my aesthetician, had very light hands and I slept while she was pricking me! I knew this because my daughter was in the room with us during the whole time and she said that I was snoring. How embarrassing!

I’ve tried many facial centers and I never once slept through one them. My friend, who was part of the marketing team of UPHR, mentioned that the equipment they’re using are all the latest models and some were imported from Germany.

The diamond peel after the facial lasted for 15-20 minutes. Since the medical spa is only on its soft opening, they are offering this service for only Php500. It’s really a good deal compared to those sold in group buying sites.

The last facial treatment I got was the Mesorejuvenation. When Hazel informed me that she’s going to use a syringe to apply this concentrated dose of vitamin C, I became hesitant. She then assured me that its a painless procedure  and explained that they’re using the syringe so that the vitamin will be quickly absorbed by the skin.

The ultrasound cavitation treatment was very comfortable. I’ve had this same treatment before in a posh asthetic clinic in Makati and my tummy area was sore for a couple of days. With the Perps Med Spa treatment, there was no discomfort or pain of any during or after the treatment.

Customer Service

One of the things I liked about Perps Med Spa is the service. The staff will smile at you and greet you the moment you enter their doors. They’ll also make sure that you’re comfortable while waiting for your treatment. They offered me and my daughter Pocari Sweat several times while we were waiting at the lobby.

I also liked the fact that even the massage therapist was familiar with the services of the medical spa.  Mine recommended me to try the ultrasound cavitation treatment and got me the free trial.

Conclusion

The Perps Med Spa is the perfect place to pamper yourself for an afternoon. You will certainly forget about work and workers compensation insurance while you’re in there.
