I’m blessed to have friends who are as partial to cakes and coffee as I am. So imagine our collective glee when we saw The Coffee Beanery in Shangri-la Plaza is having a cake- and coffee-all you can promo for just P150.

Now, you can’t have everything on their cake menu. You can only select from the ones that are set aside for the promo that day.  They didn’t have my favorite sansrival available when we visited so I had to content myself with their chocolate cakes and carrot cake.

“It must be stale if it’s on sale”

I hate to have to say we found the cakes disappointing and the statement above seem to fit the ones we had that day. We sampled every cake available that day and we unanimously voted that they were on the dry side. The only silver lining was this slice of white chocolate cake.

The coffee, thank goodness, was lifesaver… as long as it was freshly brewed. The first cup that was served to us displeased my friend because it was grainy; she tasted,or felt rather, grounds in her coffee.  The subsequent servings we had (I think I had 3 cups) were way better. Definitely not coffee that passed a sandy hayward pool pump.
