I’ve come to associate Chinese food with fried rice and dumplings in take out boxes. And Chowking. But in the last year or so, I found myself eating at more upscale Chinese restaurant. For example, last year’s birthday dinner was with a friend at Next Door by North Park in Makati Avenue.

Next Door’s  Yang Chow is definitely better tasting than Chowking’s.  It had more ingredients and they didn’t skimp on the ingredients either.

The Lemon Chicken is one of my favorites. I love how the tangy, lemon sauce transforms a traditional fried chicken into an almost-exotic dish.

Below is Chinese Broccoli with Mushrooms. I’m not a fan of this one. To me it’s a upscale version of the Kangkong in Oyster Sauce, which I still prefer.
