MOVED… and Very Superstitious

On the first of August, we officially moved in to our new house. I say house because I don’t feel it’s my home yet. But I feel an immense personal satisfaction knowing that I’ve taken the first step to independence. So far, I’m loving the new place, thin walls included.
Anyway, I just want to share with you some funny moments about the move. A friend helped me with the move, generously allowing heavy things to be hauled in his car. But he was superstitious. He said that I should bring in rice, salt, a container of water and an image of a saint.
I know about the rice. We have moved 5 times in as many years and that’s the first thing we bring inside the house when we make our move. The rest of the superstitions were his idea. I get the water. After all the, feng shui experts say that water fountains should be used to accessorize every home.
But I balked at the idea of bringing an idol inside my new house. I told him I’m not religious and I’m not a practicing Catholic. But since he insisted and since I need his help, I conceded. Fortunately, we don’t have saints in the house. But we do have several Santa Clause figures so it’s what I brought. I thought it was quite hilarious at that time.
Anyway, more updates about the house later on and pictures. Still busy arranging stuff and working from a cafe. I must get back to checking out an rv insurance quote for a client.
