Magalawa Island Weekend Getaway: Day 2
Note: Here is the link to the Magalawa Island Weekend Getaway: Day 1
Day two our Magalawa Island Weekend Getaway started early for me. I was the last one to get up from the bed and this means that Desiree was able to take a picture of me peacefully sleeping inside my malong.
Breakfast was served at 8AM. As usual, there were crabs and fish on the table. Hotdogs were also served along with coffee and bananas. We weren’t able to finish everything on the table as most were still a bit full from alcohol consumed the night before. By 9AM, we were getting ready for our bamboo rafting and snorkeling acitvity, which were included in the price we paid.
Snorkeling in Magalawa Island
This is my first time to snorkel so I was quite excited. I was looking forward to seeing amazing marine life since we saw schools of fishes the day before. With hopes high, we donned the orange life vests made of styrofoam and chose our snorkels from the basin with careful consideration before we got on the bamboo raft.
I think it took us about 10 minutes to get to our first location. We saw coral reefs but they weren’t so spectacular. I didn’t even see a single fish! So our boatman decided to take us to another location. which is also a bit disappointing. Nothing but boring coral reefs. So we just decided to enjoy the emerald waters. With the currents a bit strong, so we stayed near the bamboo raft.
After the rafting and snorkeling activity, we continued to frolic in the waters until about 10:30AM. We each took turns taking a bath and getting ready for our return trip home. By noon, we were all seated in the table and eating our last meal in Magalawa Island. To my dismay, there weren’t any crabs served but we still had fish and shrimps so I was still happy with what we’re served.
The Return Trip Home
After taking one last walk around the island, we decided to start the long ride home. But not without taking a group shot with Ate Grace, Magalawa Island’s official caretaker and tour coordinator.
We stopped by in Subic for about about hour to eat and do some shopping. After that, I watched 5 episodes of Big Bang Theory on my friend’s phone to while away the time. True, I was laughing all the way home but the next day, I got a terrible headache and slept the day away. How I wish I was still at Magalawa Island then!
