If you think this is a review of that chick flick starring Lindsay Lohan, then you better not continue reading. I’ve had a very unlucky day, you see, and I need to write about it or lose my sanity.
I woke around 3:19 PM and whilst on the bed, I fumbled for my phone. It’s dead so I charged it and was scrolling down the messages I received when…… zzzzzzzz It’s 4:02 already. *%#! I have to get up, check my emails and get ready for a trek to Makati to go see Robert Downey Jr. in Ironman 2. I hate being rushed.
As I was getting ready, I noticed the skies – Cloudy. Have to wear warm clothing in case it’s going to rain. I stuffed my things into my body bag — wallet, cell phone, Lacoste Pink perfume, kikay kit, and bandana — and went downstairs. As I was about to open the gates, the heavens brought down the rains. Not rainshowers, mind you, but real, cats-and-dogs rain. I debated about proceeding with the trip but hey, I’m all dressed up and ready to go. I borrowed an umbrella from my uncle and headed out.
My bandage ( I have a sprained foot) and a third of my skinny jeans were all wet by the time I got in the tricycle. I was too busy checking my foot and drying it off that I didn’t pay attention to everything else. I paid for the fare using the 20 pesos I got from my wallet and walked a little faster than usual to catch the Cher bus going to Fairview.
I was removing my left foot’s wet elastic bandage when the collector came for my fare. I looked for my wallet and went cold when I couldn’t find it. Embarrassed, I asked to be alighted and retraced my steps. Fortunately, the bus had moved but a few meters from where I was dropped off by the tricycle driver. No wallet and to be honest, I didn’t expect to find it. Even with the rains, the route I took gets heavy foot traffic and passers by cannot miss the wallet. On the ride home, I cannot help but feel like a loser for losing my wallet. And now, almost an hour after it happened, I am still feeling shitty, mad at myself for being so careless.
Moral of this story: do not rush. When I am rushed I become absent minded. I cannot afford to be absent minded.
P.S. I LOST 3 ATMs, AN SSS ID, AND 1.7K. I am hoping that the ATMs will be returned by the person who did find my wallet…
