My daughter and I have wanted to eat at iHop since we passed by their Alabang branch about 2 months ago. But we’ve never really had a chance to try it since it’s not easily accessible by public transport. So when we saw their Mall of Asia branch, we decided to try it. Sadly, the food did not live up to the hype. Customer sevice, however, was excellent.
We we’re directed to our seats immediately upon entering the branch’s premises. Each of us, i.e. my, my daughter Gab, and my sister’s partner, Ann, were given a menu to choose from. I wanted to order a salad but the one I want does not seem like value for money so I opted to go for the Split Decision Breakfast (P325) instead. It consisted of French toast, 2 buttermilk pancakes, 2 slices of cooked bacon, 2 pieces of sausage and 2 sunny side up eggs. Everything was perfectly cooked but my favorite is the sausage because it’s not the kind of sausage I am used to. It was flavorful.
My daughter had a Rooty Jr. with extra rice. Yes, we’re big on rice and if I thought I could finish a serving, I would have ordered it. Her plate had a one buttermilk pancake topped with strawberries and cream, scrambled eggs, and a slice of bacon. The serving was just right for her and she finished everything on her plate… and the rice.
Ann ordered a Create Your Own French Toast Combo. It has 2 French toasts, scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon and hash. She did not finish her meal and took home the French toast.
Though we were happy with the serving, we did not think that iHop lived up to the hype. I think we were all expecting to be blown away by the flavor but we walked out a bit disappointed and craving for something else. We were impressed with the customer service and did not feel that the 10% service charge automatically added to our bill was too much. However, I would go back to try their Malagos chocolate because it looks so rich and sinful!
