Last Saturyday, April 17, 2010, was my first time to attend a blogging summit.  I started blogging in May 2008 and only got really serious with making money from my blogs this year. Fortunately, I was able to secure last minute seats to the 6th iBlog Summit held at the Malcolm Theater in the UP College of Law in Diliman, Quezon City.

Even though I was almost an hour late, me and my friend Jack were still able to secure food stubs to the event.  I thought that was very luck y of us until I lost mine after the morning snack break. So I decide to forgo lunch altogether and just drink a fruitshake from CASAA while my companion gobbled up his free lunch.

Since the next presentation wasn’t of any interest to me, I went home for a while in UP village to change from dress to pants and shirt. I also left my heavy laptop at sister’s place so I can freely move. We got back just in time to hear the owner of Batang Baler make his very engaging presentation. I learned several interesting things from him including the fact that Manuel L. Quezon was a grandson, and not the son as his PR people would have us believe, of a Spanish priest.

The presentations during the day were all very useful for new bloggers like Jack who have no idea where to start with blogging. But the best presentation, for me, was the SEO by Marghil Macuha.  He is the owner of Macuha.com and the author of the guerilla blogging e-book. Basically, his presentation was about optimizing your blog for search engines so that you can make money from Google Adsense. It’s what I am after for and I did learn a lot. You can find out more about his presentation in his post My iBlog6 Talk.

The highlight of the day was me winning an official iBlog6 white t-shirt. Again, this is a lucky happenstance since I got the last shirt that they gave away. Jack’s number wasn’t called but he wasn’t totally empty handed. What he learned from the summit is enough freebie in itself. Getting a t-shirt in the raffle would have been just the icing on the cake.
