Chillin’ at Orange Cool Spa

I bought a voucher from Metrodeal a couple of months ago for a full body massage, hand spa, and foot spa at Orange Cool Spa in Makati Cinema Square (MCS). The original price of this package is P700 but it was only sold for P199. Such an amazing deal.

I went there on a Saturday afternoon after work. It took me about 45 minutes to get there from Makati Avenue. It should  have been 30 minutes but it took me a while to ride a jeepney from Pasong Tamo to MCS. When I got there, I asked the security guard where it was and I found it immediately. It’s on the second floor in front of a coffee shop and musical instruments store.

The first thing I noticed when I got inside the spa is it’s decor. They had an orange and green color scheme going on that I liked. There was only one other customer in the lobby, a Korean guy, and there were two women attending to him. It took them about five minutes to verify that I booked an appointment earlier that morning and then another 10 minutes for someone to attend to me.

I was seated in one of the single couches in the lobby and while my attendant was was getting the supplies needed, I had nothing to do but take pictures of the reception area and listen to the two girls flirt with the Korean guy they are attending to. They’re probably trained to be “friendly” to the customers but since this is spa, I was thinking that they shouldn’t be giggling. People come to day spas to relax and I just couldn’t do that with people giggling. I focused on taking photos of the reception table in front of me and below is my best shot.

Services

After 10 minutes of soaking my feet in warm water, my attendant proceeded to scrub my feet. I was happy that she wasn’t a chatty at all and just did her work.  She used mint infused foot scrub that I found refreshing. After that, she covered my feet and legs with a mint wrap that was uncomfortably cold. I did not complain about it because I get cold easily and she did cover it with a towel to keep it partially warm.

Mint foot soak and rub

While my legs and feets were “marinating in mint,” the attendant worked on my hands and arms. She scrubbed it with the mint scrub and I remember thinking that I’m going to feel colder soon. I did feel a lot colder when she applied the mint rub on both arms. As she informed me, every spa product they use have mint on it to keep up with the “cool” theme of their spa.

After the 45 minute foot and hand spa, it was finally time for the massage. I was looking forward to it because I can feel the tension building up on my shoulders and neck. I was hoping that my masseuse would use a warm massage oil but it was  room temperature at best. I willed myself to focus on the actual massage, relax and get a few zzzzzss before she turns me over on my back.

I must admit that I had a difficult time getting into the “relaxed” mode because I can hear someone practicing on the piano. Then, when I just getting to fall asleep, a new customer came in and shouted something that sounded like my name. Right there and then I realized that it is bad idea to get a massage in a mall, especially one that doesn’t have soundproof walls.

Verdict

As deals come, this is one that is worth every peso paid for it. The service wasn’t bad either but there are room for improvements to make sure that a customer comes out cool and relaxed.
