“Worthless people live only to eat and drink; people of worth eat and drink only to live.”
Socrates had that one right. One of the best days of December 2011 happened over cakes and coffee at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf branch in Ortigas Park with friends.
I had the Double Chocolate Frappuccino — instant sugar high! But it really tasted like chocolate and it’s now my third favorite drink, right after Tsoko-Nut’s Iced Choco Loco and Starbucks’ Dark Mocha Frappuccino.
I ordered a slice of Turtle Pie in memory of a very dear friend. It tasted alright, not too sweet, but it the bottom layer lacked the chewiness that I have expect in this particular kind of pie.
A friend ordered Cheese Muffin, which was the group’s favorite. Heated in the microwave before it was served, this muffin was light and tasty. I had to stop myself from finishing her order!
Another ordered their Chicago Cheesecake. It looks plain but it had the consistency light, airy consistency that I like in a cheesecake.
After hogging the table for well over an hour, we moved to one of the Ortigas Park benches in front of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and waited for another friend for about an 45 minutes. A perfect to a perfect coffee night.
