2011 Wish: To Explore Rizal With Gabby

Traveling is the best form of learning.

So my mom says. And I agree with her. I traveled a lot when I was in high school and I believe that it’s one of the reasons why I got into my university of choice. I met a lot of people along the way and learned so much from fellow students and teachers. I also learned more about the Philippines and experienced its beauty and the hospitality of its people first hand. It is for this reason that I promised my daughter two years ago that we won’t be celebrating her birthdays with a party anymore. Instead, we’d go out of town and take day tours, or even stay overnight. Being as “lakwatsera” as I am, she loves the idea, too!

For this year, we’re considering of going to Baguio. But with so many medical expenses this month, we might have to forego that trip and just settle for something closer like Rizal. I’m sure she’d appreciate walking through the artists’ row since she likes to paint herself. But she would enjoy the nature eco-trip more since as she loves to play outdoors and the freedom it represents.

However, what I really want her to experience, is the outdoor adventure trip. She has never been camping and I want her to experience it. I had my first camping when I was in grade three and though it was in our school grounds, i enjoyed every minute of it. From the messy, noisy dinner with other girl scouts to the magical bonfire, everything was so memorable. I even played Saddam Hussein in our “It’s a small world production!”

Is this where we would celebrate Gabby's Birthday this year?

I am keeping my hands crossed that I will win Ang Trip ni Rizal – Trip ko ‘to blogging contest. It would surely make my daughter’s 9th birthday memorable. In fact, it would make my 29th birthday memorable since our birthdays are just a week apart. It would be a totally new experience for both us and one that we will both remember for the rest of our lives.

Note: This is my official entry to Ang Trip ni Rizal – Trip ko ‘to blogging contest. For more information about the Outdoor adventure trip and other exciting trips to the province of Rizal, check out Ang Trip Ni Rizal.
